FORMAL & INFORMAL WAYS to say thank you in Turkish 


Informal ways of thanking someone in Turkish


1- Sağ ol (be alive) / Çok Sağ ol
These are the first ways of thanking someone in Turkish. Sağ ol literary means be alive, keep in mind that çok mean very.

An example is this Turkish Conversation:

Şu defteri verebilir misin? .....can you give me that copybook?
Tabi........................................of course
Sağ ol / Çok sağ ol.................thank you

2- Harikasın
Which is a way to thank someone in Turkish and it means you are awesone.

3- Eline Sağlık
Which literary means health to your hands, this phrase is used to thank someone after they have prepared a meal for you.

4- Eyvallah
This word is used among men where we don't hear a woman saying this word. Eyvallah is used in two situations, goodbye and thank you.

5- Çok teşekkürler
Thank you very much, and it can be used in both formal and informal situations.


Formal ways of thanking someone in Turkish

1- Elinize Sağlık
This is the formal way of the phrase "Eline Sağlık" and also used to thank someone after they have prepared a meal for you.


2- Teşekkür ederim and Teşekkürler both have the same meaning in Turkish which is thank you.

3- Çok Naziksiniz is another way to thank someone and it means you are very nice.

4- Sağolun is the formal way of the informal word I have mentioned above "Sağ ol".


How to say you are welcome in Turkish

1- Ne demek: used in the meaning of "it is nothing".

2- Bir şey değil: gives the same meaning as "ne demek", which is like you didn't do much and no need to thank you.

3- Rica ederim means welcome.
